Hello and welcome! My name is Leela Frankcombe, I’m a knitwear designer and former climate scientist. I design mostly using brioche, since I love the beautiful organic motifs that the technique lends itself to.

If you are new to brioche, I have an online course that will take you through all the basics.

These socks were on the needles for almost exactly a year, but they now finally off them and into my husband’s sock drawer.

Progress on the cutest crochet project has been slow since the cotton yarn and tight gauge are hard on my hands. Also the counting, which I don’t always have the patience for. But the cuteness keeps me going.

This is my favourite detail shot from my Burley Scarf, published in August 2018. Gives no clue about the item actually is (the name gives it away though) but shows the patterning very nicely.

The start of my current WIP, looks very similar to the start of my previous WIP (by design). I think this future pattern is the first time I have knit two versions of the same shawl). I do it for hats frequently to get the sizes right, but not usually for shawls.
