Bauble shapes
You will need something round and lightweight to give shape to your baubles. Many discount/craft stores have plastic or polystyrene balls which would be suitable.
Cast on method
This method is similar to the loop cast on used in crochet.
- Make a loop with your yarn
- Insert your needle into the loop and pick up a stitch
- yarn over
- repeat the previous two steps until you have the correct number of stitches on your needle (or distributed over your DPNs)
brLsl cross
An increase worked into a left slanting decrease, so that the total number of stitches does not change:
- Pass the slipped stitch (along with its yarn over) over the set of three stitches just worked
- Slip 1 stitch (along with its yarn over) knitwise
- brk the next two stitches together (including the yarn over on the second), yarn over, brk, all into the same stitch
