Offshoot hat

Despite the long name, two-colour syncopated brioche is not as hard as you might think! This pattern contains only basic brioche stitches, one type of brioche increases and three types of brioche decreases, all of which are explained in the notes.

This pattern contains two versions of the hat, in three sizes. One version has a single line of leaves from brim to crown, the second has an all-over leaf pattern. The sizes are SMALL, to fit a baby (head circumference 40cm/15.75ā€), MEDIUM, to fit a toddler or young child (head circumference 50cm/19.75ā€) and LARGE, to fit an adult (head circumference 60cm/23.75ā€).

You will require two colours of DK weight yarn (217m/100g), approximately 60 (80, 100) m or 66 (88, 110) yds of each, depending on size. 3.5mm (US4) needles are recommended.

A matching scarf pattern is also available.

Stitch abbreviations and chart symbols are based on those developed by Nancy Marchant.
