brRsl cross

An increase worked into a right slanting decrease, so that the number of stitches does not change:

  • Slip 1 stitch (along with its yarn over) knitwise.
  • Knit the next stitch.
  • Pass the slipped stitch (along with its yarn over) over.
  • Move stitch from right needle to left needle.
  • Pass the following stitch (along with its yarn over) over.
  • Move stitch from left needle to right needle.
  • Yarn over
  • Knit into the same stitch, where the decrease was just worked.

brLsl cross

An increase worked into a left slanting decrease, so that the number of stitches does not change:

  • Slip 1 stitch (along with its yarn over) knitwise.
  • brk the next two stitches together, yarn over, brk, all into the same stitch.
  • Pass the slipped stitch (along with its yarn over) over the set of three stitches just worked.

brRD dec

Right leaning 4 stitch decrease, involves working 5 stitches as follows:

  • Slip 2 stitches (along with any yarn overs) separately, knitwise.
  • Place next stitch, including the yarn over, on a cable needle or locking stitch marker to the front of the work.
  • Knit the next stitch.
  • Pass the next stitch on the right needle over the stitch just worked.
  • Move stitch from cable needle, including the yarn over, to left needle.
  • Move stitch from right needle to left needle.
  • Pass stitch from cable needle, including the yarn over, over.
  • Move stitch from left needle to right needle.
  • Pass the next stitch on the right needle over the stitch just moved.
  • Move stitch from right needle to left needle.
  • Pass the next stitch on the left needle over the stitch just moved.
  • Move stitch from left needle to right needle.
  • Tighten stitch if necessary.

Left leaning 4 stitch decrease, involves working 5 stitches as follows:

  • Slip 2 stitches (along with any yarn overs) separately, knitwise.
  • Place next stitch, including the yarn over, on a cable needle or locking stitch marker to the front of the work.
  • Knit the next stitch.
  • Pass the next stitch on the right needle over the stitch just worked.
  • Move stitch from cable needle, including the yarn over, to left needle.
  • Move stitch from right needle to left needle.
  • Pass the next two stitches on the left needle over the stitch just moved.
  • Move stitch from left needle to right needle.
  • Pass the next stitch on the right needle over the stitch just moved.
  • Tighten stitch if necessary.

A four stitch decrease worked as follows:

  • slip one stitch knitwise
  • knit the next three stitches together
  • move the stitch just worked from the right needle to the left needle
  • pass the next stitch over
  • move the stitch back to the right needle
  • pass the previous stitch (the one slipped in the first step) over
  • tighten the stitch if necessary
